Waking up to the blackbird’s song
a lovely sound it’s all along.
the lark it twitters right at dawn
by the edge of wood you see a fawn.
**
The breeze, it touches twig and bloom
the bees, they hum and search their room
to collect the nectar for their brood
spring is here and lifts your mood.
**
Carefully you watch the tree
find lizard and wren, and they both flee.
From far you hear a starling’s voice
So much spring and so much joice.
**
Bluebirds, finches, sparrows fly
argue, fight and then soar high.
They collect the very best
for their brood within the nest.
**
You walk and smile, sun on your skin
a soft wind in your hair and you lift your chin.
the hum, the songs, the twitter in your ear
and then you know: spring is here.
