There was a time, eons ago
when I was tiny, ready to grow.
First, I was a bud, hidden and brown
but ready to wear a bright green gown.
**
Not long after one could see
I was growing, breaking free
of my dark coat, ready to stun
and stretching out towards the sun.
**
I grew, my veins were clearly shown
wet of rain, even windblown
I was strong, healthy and lean
and my brand new skin was of bright green.
**
Summer sun, heat and shower,
no matter what’s the natures power
couldn’t break me or inflict sprain
I held on through smile and pain.
**
But suddenly, I didn’t know
my coat had lost it’s greenish glow.
without I ever had been said
it turned from green into a red.
**
I felt I got weaker by the day
like getting older no joke, no play.
I already saw my siblings fall
and I’m scared to hear my own last call.
**
It’s already hard holding on
through night and day until the dawn.
hosts thick coat has badly thinned
And I’ll be lost – a falling leave in autumn wind.
