Always go with your instincts. Enjoy writing about murder and mystery,vampires or romance? Then do. There are a million other writers out there happy to cover the rest .

The real question is whether or not you write the different genre books under the same name. Perhaps that’s more a publisher/agent influence decision, but it would establish expectations for the reader.
