What Would I Say To My Younger Self?

Dear AJ

In only a few short days it will be 2019 and I decided today, that it might be time to look back to your life and maybe help you out living it by sending you some advice. You’re 16 years old and I think it’s time you get some hints.

Just in case you think someone plays a trick on you, believe me, nobody does! Look at your desk. The lowest drawer, in the very back, there is a little envelope, glued to the bottom of the drawer. You remember you hid a love letter, a dried red rose and a silver necklace with a heart from your very first ‘boyfriend’ ever? How would I know about that if I wasn’t you? Let me tell you: one day you will regret the decision to throw that envelope away, after keeping it for more than 15 years. One day the world will be drowning in so-called ‘cell phones’ where you can talk on the phone and send messages all over the world, anytime, at any place, and secret love letter such as this one will cease to exist. Keep it in your heart, him, who has made your first kiss an unforgettable experience and, despite the age gap, treated you with utmost romantic respect, making your ‘relationship’ one of childlike innocence with no pressure and no demands.

But that is not the reason why I’m writing to you. I would like to tell you that your life is not going to be as easy as you thought it would be. In many ways, you are too trusting and if you don’t quit to believe every story people tell you and try to help them with whatever you own, early enough, you will go through quite poor times. Be a little trustful, be a bit more careful and please, be the tiniest bit more selfish. You will always do everything for everyone and too often you will face broken promises, downright lies and a hell of an empty bank account. You know how you grew up – with the natural helpfulness your Dad gave you, the sense for the responsibility you were taught and sensitivity you will find out years later, you have. You’re strong, you’re a fighter, but your nature makes it easy for people to use you. Don’t let that happen and set a ‘stop’ early enough! It’s easier to stay strong and say stop than using your strength to fix later what others did to you. Remember: If you are making yourself a doormat, don’t be surprised if everyone keeps wiping their boots on you!

Remember that several of your teachers mentioned that you are a talented writer? You love writing, poems, and stories equally! Essays are easy for you to write, and you love to build stories, fairy tales, and fantasy worlds. Keep it up, girl! Use this gift and start writing early. One day you will be able to publish by yourself! I know you write regularly, but don’t hide what you are writing! Soon enough you will see it’s a good idea to start letting people see it! One day, I promise, you will publish a book. I only wish you would do that earlier!

Other than that, I refrain from going any deeper into your life. You are emotional, passionate and stubborn. Who says which one of these is a virtue or a weakness? I found out, each has its place in your future. Things are going to be the way they were planned for you. Everything happens for a reason, and there is rarely a bad situation that doesn’t result in something good.

Just one more thing: If you are offered a great chance, take it! It’s good to balance the pros and cons, but if you keep balancing you might miss the chance! Don’t be too scared. Take the step and see where the path leads you to! You must know, there is nothing worse in your life than the regret about the opportunities you didn’t take!

Now take care, be a good girl and keep smiling. Your humor is one of the things in your life and personality that make you who you are!

With love, hugs and the best wishes for your (our) future!

AJ

Finally – A New Computer!

In July 2017 I published a blog post about my good ol’ desktop getting tired and that I’m looking for a new computer. I did look for a new computer. Unfortunately, life got in my way, and it took me somewhat longer to get there.

Finally, 15 months later, my old computer had to be replaced. It was time. The desktop took up to 18 minutes to properly start, and sometimes it needed a few tries.

Months ahead I had gotten all possible information I could get to compare different laptops for writers and asked the most stupid questions to computer experts to get the answers I needed.

Armed with all that knowledge, I decided on an ASUS laptop and went to the store, meeting a very patient, very polite, humorous and friendly young man who obviously knew what he was talking about and who did not try to convince me to buy something else when I told him what I was looking for. He just recommended me a particular model and explained exactly why.

That day I got a laptop, software, a mouse and a keyboard and took everything home. It took me nearly two months to move all data to the new computer, occasionally peek into the old one to check how I did this or that or how the settings were in that or the other program.

About a week ago I eventually said ‘goodbye’ to my old desktop and took it to the store where I originally bought it, over eight years ago! (Thank you, Fujitsu!) The store will take it in for species-appropriate disposal. May it rest in peace.

To the interested parties: I got an ASUS 2-in-1 Q525UA, laptop. ASUS calls it ‘The Powerful And Elegant Convertible,’ and I admit, they’re right.

It has a keyboard as well as a touch screen, display and sound are incredible, it’s 15″ display has an unbelievable quality, and the entire laptop is light and easy to transport. Of course, there are many more features, but let me tell you: It’s easy to work on and doesn’t need much space. I’m very happy with my choice.

Should anyone be interested in knowing more about the ASUS Q525UA, check out the ASUS Website HERE.

I’m not paid to promote my computer. I only published this post because I think it is an amazing laptop for writers – and I promised in my July 2017 post that I would be informing in a blog article what computer I bought.

Merry Christmas – 2018

As usually Christmas time are the days of the year I think back to the past year. What happened? Did I like the year? How many problems did I face? Were they severe?

Let me try to explain it.

When I’m in a job I don’t like, I’m unhappy. I figure, I took too long what happened there and that didn’t do me any good.

But:

I had amazing family time twice this year, was traveling (even though that wasn’t always good either, but at least funny), I met friends, made new friends, found out who are my true friends and best of all:

I published a book!!

I’m so unbelievably proud! This is the best thing ever and it gave me a lot of self-confidence and clarity.

I know now what I have to do and even though it won’t be easy, it still will be an adventure.

Next year will be amazing!!

But right now I want to thank you all once more, that you are with me, experiencing my writing adventure and making it special to me!

I wish you and your families a heartfelt:

Musings Of Two Creative Minds

Okay gang, the big day is drawing near and you still want to get a few more gifts but don’t know what to buy, or don’t want to go out into the stores which have already pulled down half of their displays and are lining up Spring stuff. What to do, what to do… how about giving someone a good book to read on their Kindle? It’s fast, easy, and you can have it delivered on Christmas Day and know it will arrive on time…

Didn’t know you could do this? Neither did I for the longest time. I only found out a couple of years ago when we released “The Vampyre Blogs – Coming Home”. I found myself rewarding some of our beta-readers with a free copy of the finished product in whatever form they wished (trade paperback, Kindle, PDF).  Most requested a signed trade paperback, but a couple…

Soul Taker Got Its First 5-Star Review

I’m very excited and grateful. ‘Soul Taker’ got its first 5-star review. This is amazing. I catch myself smiling all over the place.

“a wonderful start to a series”

REVIEWED BY: LINDA TONIS
MEMBER OF THE PARANORMAL ROMANCE REVIEW TEAM
Kate’s job as a Soul-Taker has been weighing heavily on her especially when there are children involved. Now she is given a new job as a Guardian Angel and her teacher is none other than Archangel Raphael (Rafe). Rafe and Kate will be working together for at least three or four years while she learns everything she needs to know.

A fight between demons finds her in Hell in the hands of Abbraxxas whose nickname is “The Butcher” because of his love for torture. When the Archangels finally rescue her she is near death and Rafe is always by her side. When she is well enough she is put through weeks of vigorous training to get her back in shape and during this time Kate and Rafe’s feelings for each other grow.

Kate appears to be a constant target for evil and the reason is finally revealed by Kate herself when she remembers something from her childhood. Of course there is no way I will reveal this important piece of information. The very next time she is caught off guard she finds herself face to face with Lucifer himself and he knows what she is capable of and wants her. Archangels to the rescue once again but there is much more to this story that I can reveal without giving too much away. There is no fun in reading a book when you know all the answers in advance.

I loved this book, a book about good vs. evil and a book filled with wonderful characters and a beautiful romance. I look forward to more in this series and truly highly recommend it. I actually read this book in a few hours that was how interesting it was.
