Thank you for all your work and support to us writers, Derek. I think that is such an important article for each one of us.
Don’t advertise your writing mistakes
You might have written and published a perfect book. You could be a fantastic blogger. Your poetry may be astounding.
But you should always be on your guard for the most common writing mistakes.
We all make silly grammar, spelling and punctuation errors when we write. But a good writer will always correct a word or phrase with common mistakes before posting anything online.
You might not think about grammar rules, punctuation marks and complete sentences when you write an email, message or social media post. But people really do notice your mistakes.
That is why I edit not once but thrice! I use myself. I use ProWritingAid and PaperRater to edit my work. Then I go back over it again with my own eyes. Okay so maybe 4 times. Lol

I edit three times and then it goes to my editor. 🙂

Okay, it gets edit 5 times because yes I do send it off and it does get looked over by an editing team and Copyscape too. When not writing books I freelance write for a company, so my articles get a check for plagiarism as well.

I think that’s important… and I thought my four times editing are already ‘a lot of editing’ LOL

This is why I’m also adding audio to my arsenal. I’m not talking simply reading aloud, I mean practice it as if I’m getting ready to record the thing. It may look good on paper, but hearing it adds a whole new dimension to my writing allowing me to make more adjustments.

I can only imagine you’re right. It is scary enough to hear my own voice recorded. I’m already scared to punish someone with listening to my voice longer than necessary. LOL
