Some News First

Azure Fire Publishing | From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksThere have been some interesting developments in my writing career, among which the fact I’m now Editor-in-chief for Azure Fire Publishing (AFP), a US-based non-profit promoting youth-friendly Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Even though the position only offers a nominal fee at the moment, it comes with a perk: AFP has offered to publish my Fantasy/Science Fiction books.

The organization has a large monthly advertising budget to promote its authors’ books, so, after much deliberation, I have decided to accept.

My Books’ Titles

Pearseus cover | From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksPerhaps, then, this is the perfect opportunity to deal with something that’s been bugging me for a while now: my first books’ titles. I find myself no longer satisfied by “Rise of the Prince” and “The Power of Six,” as I think of them as weak titles compared to my later ones. And since AFP will soon handle these…

A tribute to ALL Women…

Thank you very much Story Reading Ape, for mentioning my name when publishing this amazing tribute to women. It’s unique and it touches my heart and I’m sure the hearts of many others too. You’re a gem!

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

My thanks toAurora Jean Alexander  for sending me this

it’s one of the best tributes to women I’ve read

When God created woman he was working late on the 6th day…….

An angel came by and asked.” Why spend so much time on her?”

The lord answered. “Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?”

●She must function on all kinds of situations.
●She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time.
●Have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart.
●She must do all this with only two hands.
●She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day.

The Angel was impressed” Just two hands…..impossible!

And this is the standard model?”

The Angel came closer and touched the woman.

“But you have made her so soft, Lord”.

“She is soft”…

10 Ways I pass the time while waiting for my editor to finish editing my novel …

by Susan M. Toy

It took about 12 years to complete a final draft of my second novel, a draft I felt was finally ready to send to my most trusted first reader—my editor.

You’d think after all the time the file has sat in four computers and various memory sticks during all those years, sometimes never seeing the light of day, I’d have embraced patience and would now be willing to allow for whatever further time was necessary to complete the editing process. After all, I know that it does take a great deal of time and concentration to complete the stellar and most thorough job my editor is currently doing.

Blog Progress

The past two weeks I have been working intensely on my blog. I was trying to find useful posts for writers, I was writing my poems, I am at the moment working on another guest post. I am reading as many blogs of writers as I can, to learn and profit from their experiences. I read amazing bloggers, authors and writers, believe me!

Taking this all together I made some progress with “Writer’s Treasure Chest”. And today I got another wonderful gift.

I got my 1000th “Like”.

Pre_Order_Button

Synopsis:

After the Demonic War, a battle which devastated the mortal realm, hunter cells were established across the globe to serve and protect every living soul. Maddison Wood is part of an alpha cell in the north of England. But Maddison has a new role now; her responsibilities as Watcher. When Maddison is drawn to the city by an event which resonates hundreds of miles away, she is thrown into the path of a newly fallen angel. But Obadiah is no ordinary angel. He is a Prime, and his presence symbolizes a new threat. There is a war coming, and Maddison must form an alliance if she has any hope of winning this first battle. Author Bio:Mel

Melissa Barker-Simpson has been writing since she was knee-high to a grasshopper. Melissa often looks back on those earlier stories, and apart from laughing at the heavy-handed drama, or cringing at her inexperience, she is reminded that she has always lived in other worlds.

Her first novel was published in 2008, and Melissa loved nothing more than working on a new project. The voices inside her head invariably pull her in different directions, so although she tried to work on one thing at a time, those who know her would tell you it doesn’t always work!

She works a full-time job, which does not involve writing per se, incorporates her love of language. As a British Sign Language Interpreter, Melissa gets to translate information between two languages which is (mostly) fun.

She also has two beautiful daughters who bring her great joy. They keep her grounded, otherwise she would be stuck in the clouds permanently!

Snippet to Include:

Zara paced the receiving room, trying not to stare at the Guardians who were huddled together discussing her case. The darkened windows could barely contain the divine light seeping from the group. It glowed at the centre of each being, strong enough to blind a man. Their beauty could also induce madness; certainly there were few who could comprehend it.

Zara was immune – mostly. Though she was no longer a Guardian; neither was she mortal. She was a member of the Fallen and had relinquished some of her power for the privilege. Not that she cared about any of that now. Someone was hurting her brethren, and she would beg if it meant the council would intervene.
