A Busy Worker – A Riddle

A hard working girl that’s what I am

from the day I’m born ‘til the day I die.

After a quite spoiled nursery,

my work will be valued high.

**

There are 12,000 sorts of us

spread out in all regions of the Earth

even in the desert and the arctic circle

surviving heat and ice with mirth.

**

Some of us exist under water,

deep in an Australian pond.

Our buddies in the desert run the fasted

With at least three feet per second.

**

Our smallest sorts are tiny

Less than 1/3 an inch.

Our biggest friends are monsters

2 ¾ in. and they can bite and pinch.

**

We all live in a monarchy

Mostly working girls and queen

The boys are good to fertilize

then they die and food they’ve been.

**

We can carry 10 times our weight

We never rest or pant.

I guess you’ve figured out by now

Oh yes, I am an ant.

Wonderful Spring Time May

The sun sends light down to the Earth

to show the world that it is worth

the warmth, the sunbeams and the song

of Nature pure, it can’t be wrong.

**

When the ground it thirsts for something wet

if rain it needs, that’s what it will get.

Darkest clouds clot up there in the sky

The relief the dry ground feels like a sigh.

**

And still very soon after pouring rain

The world is bright and beams again.

The baby starlings scream for food

other birds as well, they feed their brood.

**

At night you hear the barn owls do

demand to eat, they’re hungry too.

Baby foxes play around, while Momma hunts

and the baby deer won’t make a sound.

**

Listen to nature and you can hear its song

when birds are racing all along.

Singing, twittering, and complaint

they live their life without constraint.

**

The world is old but in spring it will

renew itself with master skill.

Give birth, grow up and paint with ploy

colorful pictures for our joy.

**

Enjoy the spring, enjoy the stance

whistle, sing and also dance.

Soon enough the birds will fly.

And the Earth will once more getting dry.

A Lost Friendship?

Years ago I found a friend

funny, caring, faithful and true.

I love her a lot and still she’s gone.

I wish I knew where I have failed you.

**

Doesn’t friendship mean ‘together’,

no matter how hard the times may come?

Friends may laugh and they may cry,

they even argue, when it’s troublesome.

**

But the love should carry them together

through friendship, life; through thick and thin.

Your friendship means the world to me

no matter where I was, I will be, or I’ve ever been.

**

Should I have hurt you, then I’m sorry.

You know me well, this I would never do!

As my friend, can you forgive me

and let me get it right for you?

**

One of the bases in the past years

was our friendship in my heart.

You have just left and yet I miss you.

My safe haven broke apart.

**

Your wisdom and your humor,

the way you laugh and talk with me

this is what I miss so much now

I’d hug you, on the count of three!

**

In case what I have done now

cannot be fixed, it is too bad…

I’ll still remember you with my love

helpless, clueless, and unbelievably sad.

Happy Easter 2018

A Holiday returning only once a year

in spring when warm weather makes us cheer.

We all can laugh and sing and dance

around Easter fires with their warm red flames.

We enjoy the baby chickens with their beep

We watch symbols like the Easter lambs and sheep.

We smile, we tease, we all play funnies

enjoy the chocolates, eggs and Easter bunnies.

Spring 2018

Once again the first season of the year

has arrived, and just picks up in gear.

Flowers bloom, the grass turns green

everything looks fresh and clean.

**

Renewed life stretches and is waking

sleep is gone, life is in the making.

Birds, and flowers, water and grass

happiness is now as clear as glass.

**

Singing and dancing are taking over

we find luck in a four leaved clover.

We are proud and we all smile

dust is shaken off the winter pile.

**

Youngsters are shown by their proud Mom

birds and kitties nd puppies, all are calm.

The sun shines brighter every day

warms our babies on their way.

**

And once again we know it’s true

what we didn’t think when the cold wind blew

The Earth has once again shown that all the tragic

thoughts are gone by Nature’s magic.

Winter Is Approaching

The air is cold, the trees are naked, people run around and sneeze

the ground is hard, the leaves are fallen, the wind howls worse than just a breeze.

After autumn coolness, wet streets common. skies a leaden gray they are

We feel the fourth season fast approaching, winter isn’t anymore that far.

**

The only thing we are awaiting, is the white, we want it swift,

soft white flakes that cover brown ground, a blanket, like a gift.

Some time far away, in past and future, spring was and will be, that we know

but at this moment what we wish for, is our long awaited snow.

**

Christmas time is around the corner, we’re looking forward to the Holiday,

but part of it is winter snow in which we all just love the play.

Please, clouds, give us the snowflakes we’re long already waiting for

allow the clouds to cover nature, ground, and plants, and so much more.

**

Nature, it will go to sleep, during winter, the cold and freezing time

while snow will cover, all year’s leftovers, the dirt, the wet and also grime.

In spring the world will be awaking, prepared to grow to play and toy

but when there’s snow in winter, there’s no reason, why we cannot enjoy.

**

Enjoy the cold and play the snow, go to sled, to ski, go skate the ice,

accept the moment, be yourself, winter will be over in just a trice.

Live in the here and in the present, build a snowman on your lawn

In a handful moments you’ll think back and today’s winter will be gone.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Christmas time, starting the last month of the year

we should think of loved ones, close to us and dear.

We’re supposed to be reflecting our life and heart

and should be planning to be together rather than apart.

**

We should be thinking of what time of the year we’re in

how we acted and behaved, what kind of person we have been.

We should be thinking of the ones who don’t have what we all do

should be trying to support and be helpful, honest and true.

**

And still we don’t, we’re stressing over things like a gift

everything needs to be done, fast and quick and swift.

But isn’t time more precious to the ones we love?

More important is, that’s what I think, a prayer to above.

**

What is the day we celebrate December twenty-fifth,

The birth of a man who truly lived and still ain’t  more than myth.

It seems we keep forgetting the bells that day will chime

the end of this wonderful, divine and reflective time.

**

It’s Christmas time, smiles and laughter, a good word, a song

should be in our heart, in our soul soft and still strong.

Enjoy the time, reflect your thoughts on that what’s real and true

inside yourself, be the best you are and you can be, simply, just be you.

When I Was Young And Green (Fall Poem)

There was a time, eons ago

when I was tiny, ready to grow.

First, I was a bud, hidden and brown

but ready to wear a bright green gown.

**

Not long after one could see

I was growing, breaking free

of my dark coat, ready to stun

and stretching out towards the sun.

**

I grew, my veins were clearly shown

wet of rain, even windblown

I was strong, healthy and lean

and my brand new skin was of bright green.

**

Summer sun, heat and shower,

no matter what’s the natures power

couldn’t break me or inflict sprain

I held on through smile and pain.

**

But suddenly, I didn’t know

my coat had lost it’s greenish glow.

without I ever had been said

it turned from green into a red.

**

I felt I got weaker by the day

like getting older no joke, no play.

I already saw my siblings fall

and I’m scared to hear my own last call.

**

It’s already hard holding on

through night and day until the dawn.

hosts thick coat has badly thinned

And I’ll be lost – a falling leave in autumn wind.

Cuddly Black And Whites – A Riddle

____________________________________________________________________________________

It is day but just as well it’s night

which means it’s dark as well as light.

It doesn’t climb but stays on ground

in all Americas it can be found.

**

It is a mammal and a loving one

Mom protects her kids until they’re gone.

Dad doesn’t care, but Mom will be

until baby is ready for family.

**

In winter when cold, it goes to sleep

but does not do it very deep.

It wakes up and feeds then goes back

where its sisters sleep in a dozen pack.

**

It’s omnivore, means it does eat all

hunting, killing, tear and maul.

It feeds on plants, insects, meat ‘n egg

it shows no mercy, don’t cry and beg.

**

They’re alone whenever they don’t breed

they can run with quite surprising speed.

And even though they’re black and white

they aren’t Zebra’s that is right.

**

The Great Horned Owl is on the hunt

and catches our mammal pretty blunt.

Wolves, foxes, badgers they stay away

scared of it’s weapon, a bad spray!

**

Our little buddy, and there is no wink

can defend himself and badly stink!

Cute and cuddly, a black and white hunk

I’m sure, you guessed: It is the skunk!

Dancing In The Summer Rain

The air is still and humid, heavy and warm

movement caused by a mosquito swarm.

For days the sun relentlessly has burned

the stone dry ground, no relief, we learned.

**

The smell of basil, lavender and thyme

fills the air in summertime.

And still the heat, it is a strain

we all are waiting for the rain.

**

In the evening there’s a gush of wind

the humidity has slowly thinned.

The light blue sky is getting gray

like lead the clouds clench up and stray.

**

And very slowly the wind blows more

it closes windows and the door.

And then, with joy, and with no grief

the first drop falls down, it’s a relief.

**

The raindrops soon dance on the ground

on windows and roofs, we like the sound.

For days and weeks we wanted to hear

the desiderated rain – now it is here.

**

The air still warm and I’m invited

to go outside I’m so excited.

It’s like feeling nature on my skin

going outside with a wide grin.

**

I catch the drops and feel cooled down

instead of cream, the earth is brown

the grass stands up, and so do plants

when I whirl and spin my summer dance.
