My First Published Character Interview – Simin Arnatt

On December 4, 2015, I was introduced on ‘The Story Reading Ape’s blog to be accepted in his ‘Author’s Hall of Fame’. I’m very grateful he did that and accepted several guest posts since that day. TSRA’s post went viral before my first book in the series ‘Soul Taker’ was published. That day I interviewed one of my characters, Simin Arnatt. She is quite an important character in my series, strong, beautiful, a fighter.

Book Four in ‘The Council of Twelve’ series will be Simin’s story. I decided today to re-publish Simin’s interview here below for you to meet her (or meet her again).

Simin isn’t an easy character, independent, proud, unique, difficult to handle at times. Brace yourself for her arrival…

Interview with Simin Arnatt.

Hello, Simin.

I am honored to be permitted to ask you a few questions and that you agreed to let us know you a little better.

You’re welcome. It is nice to be here. Don’t forget to keep your curiosity under control and we’ll get along well.

I understand. Now let’s start with the beginning. You are beautiful, but unusual. Where were you born?

Thank you so much for the compliment. I am in fact born in England. My mother was English, my father, Persian. I got my parents’ looks, equally from both of them. Only that I look like their negative. (She laughs musically) I got my father’s light skin and my mother’s chocolate hair – and nature switched it and made me.

The contrast is unique, in particular with your dark eyes. You are gorgeous. You look like being in your late twenties the most. May I ask how old you are?

Again thank you for all compliments. As for my age: After I reached my biological limit at the age of 22, I haven’t noticed to age significantly. And that was a long, long time ago. My parents passed away, their bodies turned into dust in the meantime. I did not expect to live this long, but that’s how it is. And no, I won’t tell you my actual age. It will, as so many things about me, remain a secret.

What do you do for a living?

I am something like a “bounty hunter”. I search for individuals on order.

That sounds interesting, can you tell us more? For example: Why do you search for these individuals and who gives you the orders?

I’m sorry. It’s my work, and I do guarantee absolute discretion to my customers.

There is something unusual about you. And you mentioned you are much older than I guessed. Are you human?

Not entirely, no.

But you’re not a vampire?

(Laughs out loudly). No, not at all.

What are you if I may ask?

This will remain a secret

Were you born the way you are?

Yes.

Are you the only one of your kind?

I have never met another in my entire existence. But this doesn’t mean there is nobody else. We just might not have met.

What….

STOP IT!! Enough of that. If you don’t have any other questions.

Is there a man in your life?

N…no.

Your answer came out a little hesitating. Are you sure there is nobody?

Yes.

But you are in love?

(Blushes furiously) I don’t talk about that. This goes too far now. Do you have one more question to ask? Otherwise I…

Yes, please. Is there anything you would like to be able to do? A wish, a dream you have?

I sometimes wish I could fly into heaven, spread my wings, fly above the clouds, and end up where all is love and peace. Away from blood, cruelness, injustice and – Heaven… (her eyes are dreamy)

I’m sorry, but this is it. I consider this interview over. It was a pleasure to be here. All the Best and good luck with your book.

Interview With One Of My Characters V

Hello Zepheira. It’s so great to have you here.

Hi AJ. It’s nice of you to invite me. I love your little office. And the kitties, of course. *laughs*

Now, Zye. You met your husband, a while ago. We all read how you two fell in love and got married. How is married life?

Well, it’s more or less what Katie told me it would be. Of course, I’m still a Demon Tracker, working for the ‘Council Of Twelve’. I love what I do and I’m very proud they haven’t ‘reduced’ me to be a ‘housewife’ at this point. But additionally my regular work I had to take over quite a part of my work as a consort. And these tasks are specific.

Can you tell us what is expected of an Archangel consort?

Consorts aren’t just glorified Archangel groupies. We ladies are a part of our husbands. We are their connection to their troops, to their commanders, and their subordinates. We are expected to take care of them, look out for their wellbeing, function as their point of contact if there is a problem. And we aren’t talking about a military strategic flaw, we are talking about personal problems. Often we function as psychologists, we help, advice, comfort and they know they can count on us. Of course, there has been the one or other case when a subordinate has tried to befriend us, hoping he’s getting chances to be promoted. But that’s not what we are there for. Often we organize our husband’s meetings, training, calendars, management, guards, and many more things…

We can read about you and your husband’s romance in the ‘Demon Tracker’ book. Will you tell us just a little about it?

Of course. My hubby’s Big Seven have demanded my services as a Demon Tracker after one of them has been killed and disappeared. They needed to save her soul, otherwise, it would be lost to the evil side. I helped them to find her, and during that process, I met Archangel Uriel. He is an enormously strong Archangel, one of the oldest Archangels in existence. The case was quite difficult to solve and during my research, another problem came up. I took a great risk to finish my assessment and solve that problem…

Do you recommend reading the book?

*laughs* I definitely do. It’s an interesting adventure and also, Uriel and I meeting is quite romantic, actually. Read the book. And keep in mind – there’s more to come!

Interview With One Of My Characters IV

In preparation for the book release of the third book in ‘The Council Of Twelve’ series, I invited one of my characters for an interview. Siana worked with Zepheira in a tracking team, before Zye was hired by the Big 7. Let’s see what Siana can tell us about Zye.

Welcome, Siana.

Hello, AJ.

Siana, I know you have been working together with Zepheira when you both were in Evaan’s team. Zye told me you are an exceptional archeress and she loved working with you. How was working with her?

Oh, Zepheira is a nice woman, maybe a bit smug about her abilities, but I figure, she is all right.

Is there anything more you can tell us about her?

Well, she… she was always nice to me. But even though we were in the same team and worked well together, outside of work there was no interaction between us. She’s an excellent demon tracker, probably the best there is currently. But, well… that’s about it.

When you heard she would leave the team for a limited time, what did you think?

Thank God… oh – I mean… I thought, I hope, she’ll be fine and successful in her work for the big seven. I wished her only the best.

You know, Siana. I think, you’re a beautiful woman, and apparently, as an archeress exceptional. But looking at your answers one could think you actually don’t want to talk about your friend.

Zepheira was never a friend of mine.

How come?

Just because…

Does that mean I’m right when I think you don’t like her?

That’s not it!

What is it then? Weren’t you relieved when she left?

No

Didn’t you actually hope she would never return?

No!

Didn’t you hope that she will never cross your path anymore?

Of course not!

Aren’t you scared of her because of her unusual look?

(positively crying now) – Fine – FINE! I am scared of her. These cursed horns! She looks like she works for the other side! She’s always been smarter, better, faster, more talented than everyone else in all the teams, even though she looks horrible with these horns – these godforsaken horns! I can’t sleep sometimes because I’m scared!!

And when you heard what her future will be – weren’ t you jealous?

Of course! How dare she? How can she look that dreadful and still get one of the most desirable bachelor’s in the universe? She has always been so nice to me! But then my fear got the better of me – I cannot profit from her connections.

I think we all know what we want to know… Thanks for your time, Siana.

Good Bye.

Author Spotlight – Susan A. Royal

Welcome!

Please introduce yourself.

Hi I’m Susan A. Royal. I live in a cute little farmhouse in the country with all kinds of birds and furry critters for neighbors.

1. When did you start writing?

I’ve been writing as long as I can remember. My first book was written on notebook paper, illustrate and bound with red ribbon. I still have it.

2. What motivates you to write?

I love words and the feelings they can invoke. Nothing inspires me more than a good book, a good movie or a good song.

3. What genre do you write in and what made you chose this particular genre?

Any kind of scifi or fantasy. I love to escape to other worlds.

4. What is your goal in writing? Do you have dreams where your writing should take you?

I just want to keep getting better. My next book is always my best book.

5. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block and if yes, how do you deal with it?

I published a book a year until my husband died. I lost my words. It took me three years to find them, and while some days are still difficult, I won’t let myself give up.

6. What advice would you like to give new, hopeful authors?

Write, rewrite, edit, learn things, and never ever give.

7. Please, tell us about your work.

I love taking readers through all kinds of adventures. I’ve written two books in my It’s About Time series, Not Long Ago and From Now On, and am working on book three. In My Own Shadow is a Fantasy Romance/Adventure, and Xander’s Tangled Web is a YA Fantasy. Look for my books at MuseItUp/Amazon/B&N.

Feisty Character Lara: (interview)

My name is Lara, and I work downtown in the Metropolitan Building. I’m not really all that good at talking about myself. You can ask my good friend, Carrie. She calls me an introvert, but the bitter truth is I’m socially awkward. Sometimes I give in and let her drag me to a party, just so she’ll get off my case. While she flits from one group to another, laughing and having a great time, I lurk around the edges of the crowd, looking for a place to hide.

Carrie and I have been BFFs for a long time. Even though we’re total opposites. She’s cheerful. I’m sarcastic. She’s outgoing. I’m a loner. But she’s always there for me. Mom died when I was born, and I just lost my dad. Now there’s only me. Carrie’s the best. I just wish she’d quit trying to fix me up with some guy she thinks is my Mr. Right.

Don’t see that happening any time soon. Even though I’m almost six foot tall and have the kind of red hair everyone wants. Something about me seems to intimidate guys. Maybe it’s my sarcastic attitude.

Not Rhys, though. Even though we stood eye to eye it didn’t bother him a bit. That’s one of the first things I noticed. And then there was his great body, rugged good looks, and intense green eyes. He definitely got my attention.

Honestly, everything happened so fast after that, it’s mostly a blur. It wasn’t until after Rhys dragged me through a portal into another dimension that I realized he wasn’t the blind date Carrie had set me up with after all. And he really was out of this world.

Yeah, I know…you’re probably thinking this sounds like your typical ‘guy rescues girl from danger and takes her to another world, where they fall in love’ scenario, but you’re wrong. Rhys treats me like an unwanted responsibility, nothing more. Every time I try to be nice, he clams up and starts acting like commando man. And it goes downhill from there when I open my mouth and out comes the sarcasm. I let him get under my skin. Why? Because even though I refuse to admit it, I have feelings for the guy.

There’s something about the quiet way he claims responsibility for our little group of travelers. He takes his job seriously…even to the point of blaming himself when things go wrong, the way I did when Dad died. If only he would open up…

The bad thing is we’ve got to work together so we can locate the book of secrets before it falls into the wrong hands and his world falls apart. That is, if we don’t kill each other in the process.
