An Exciting Anniversary For Me

Today is an extraordinary day for me.

After a massive restart in my life in July 2019, I decided to add another significant change a mere two months later. Scared to screw up, I didn’t want to tell too many people about it. But today, I can say I think I did surprisingly well.

Now, what am I talking about? I refer to my former habit to smoke. Yes, you got that right. I said former addiction!

I did quit; I’m proud to be a quitter! I’m not saying it was easy – but it went better than I expected, and I didn’t fall off the wagon – no exceptions, not even once. Not that I was never weak – but I was also too scared to get back to where I was all that time ago.

There are so many ways to quit smoking.

  1. Cold Turkey (no outside help)
  2. Behavioral therapy
  3. Nicotine replacement therapy
  4. Medication
  5. Combo treatments

I decided on the first method. Literally, I ran out of my favorite cigarette brand and chose not to buy any more of them.

Therefore I’m in no position of recommending or giving any advice for a future quitter. I heard others tried different ways and only found out what works for them after several attempts.

I’m not going to warn smokers how unhealthy it is because I always hated to hear that. I know about the danger; I took the risk. I don’t need a speech, a seminar, or a medical report. I would say: Once you’re ready, you’ll know; and then quitting will work for you. But the decision needs to come from deep inside of you.

That worked for me. I decided to quit; I made a plan, I followed it through. And that’s why today I’m so thrilled to celebrate two years smoke-free! Thanks for celebrating with me!

Happy Mother’s Day 2020

Many of my friends, followers, relatives, and readers, are amazing and wonderful Moms. Today, May 9, 2021, is their day of celebration and recognition. This is a day where people tell their Moms ‘Thank You’, and let them know how happy they are, their Mom’s are in their lives.
For our 2021 Mother’s Day I wish all Mom’s out there:

But let’s not forget the Mom’s who have fur babies instead of human ones. They too are taking care of their ‘little ones’ and make sure they’re fine. These little ones cannot say ‘thank you’ the regular way. But I thought those Mom’s need a thank you too.

Thanksgiving 2020

It’s Thanksgiving 2020… a day we should find things to be thankful for, even though the year was a hard crisis for many of us, and will most likely not change with the upcoming new year.

Still… at this moment I want to see the positive things, that I have in my life and those are the things I’m grateful for!

I want to say thanks for so many things:

A roof over my head

Something to eat in my fridge

My amazing sister

Wonderful friends

My car

California Sunshine

And that my heart still can LOVE and HOPE

Of course, I’m grateful for the God-given talent to write and that I had the chance to publish three books (and the fourth in the queue…

Last, but not least, I’m grateful for the wonderful subscribers, readers, followers, and friends that make my writing, social media, and blogging so much fun! Thank you!

If you have the chance to spend this holiday with your loved ones and family, please enjoy it. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see my family this year. I want to wish you and your family members:

A Bit Of Humor – A Few Jokes – Share The Smiles

I thought it might be a fun idea, just to throw in a few jokes and make you all laugh. I know it’s not much, but if I can make one of you laugh, my good deed for the day is done. Have fun, enjoy and share away.

In Europe lives a family with seven children, three girls, four boys. The youngest of the boys does not speak, he gets older, five, six, close to seven and he still does not say a word. The doctor doesn’t find anything and nobody can help. Finally, the family’s priest recommends them to go to ‘Lourdes’, a catholic pilgrimage destination in France.

To guarantee the kids at home are kept well and safe, the mother stays home and the father takes the boy to Lourdes. When they arrived there, the father takes his son to the holy waters, where he takes the boys’ head and dives it three times into the water. When the boy comes up the third time he coughs and spits and tells his father clearly: “Would you stop that crap? You’re a complete dummy!” – Overflowing with happiness the father runs to the phone to call his wife and tell her the good news: “Our son speaks! He can speak! He called me a dummy!” The mother replies dryly: “And he is absolutely right: You took the wrong kid!”

A boy and a girl in a small ‘farmer’s village’ in Europe fell in love. In that time, out in the country, people didn’t like seeing unmarried couples being all over each other, so they had to meet in secret.

One night they decided to meet behind the girl’s home’s backyard. They passionately began kissing – one thing led to another – and the heat of the youth took over and nature took its course.

Afterward, he held her in his arms and softly told her: “I’m so sorry. If I had known you were still a virgin, I had taken more time.” She replied with the same loving softness: “Oh if I had known you had more time, I had taken off my pantyhose.”

A Part Of European History Is Burning Down – Notre Dame In Paris On Fire

It was a great shock today when the news reported that the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire.

Notre Dame fire: What we know

  • A major fire erupted at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris Monday.
  • The cathedral, which was undergoing renovations, suffered extensive damage.
  • Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
  • No deaths have been reported.
  • Notre Dame construction began in 1163 and was completed in 1345.

The iconic spire at the top of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris has collapsed after a major fire broke out Monday. A Video showed part of the roof of the cathedral collapsing into itself as the fire rages on.

“Everything is burning, nothing will remain from the frame,” Notre Dame spokesperson Andre Finot told French media, according to the Associated Press. By Monday evening, Paris fire chief Jean-Claude Gallet told reporters he believes firefighters have managed to save the cathedral’s landmark rectangular towers from the blaze.
Gallet said, “We now believe that the two towers of Notre Dame have been saved,” Reuters news agency reported. “We now consider that the main structure of Notre Dame has been saved and preserved.” There was still a risk that some of the interior structures could collapse, he said.

It is horrible! I who have seen this amazing building several times and felt the unusual spirit of what was within these walls. In my opinion, the emotions in this church might have been caused by millions of prayers, by shiny eyes, fascinated thoughts, and Christian comfort.

My heart is bleeding that the world might be losing one of the most fascinating historical buildings still existing. I pray that this won’t happen and that today’s generation and the next ones will have to chance to see what I saw, to feel what I felt and to experience what millions of people experience year by year…

May the world see this miracle of architectural art back in its old varnish and glory, the way it once was, we all knew it – and how it hopefully once will be again.

Thank you very much for the giggles, Sally. I couldn’t resist re-blogging this post and sharing the smiles.

Now for that joke…..Things Kids Say.

After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, “That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys.”

The Sunday School Teacher asked, “Now, Johnny, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?”
“No sir,” Johnny replies, “I don’t have to. My Mom is a good cook.”

A Sunday school teacher asked her children, as they were on the way to church service, “Why is it necessary to be quiet in church?”
One bright little girl replied, “Because people are sleeping.”
