Waking up to the blackbird’s song

a lovely sound it’s all along.

the lark it twitters right at dawn

by the edge of wood you see a fawn.

**

The breeze, it touches twig and bloom

the bees, they hum and search their room

to collect the nectar for their brood

spring is here and lifts your mood.

**

Carefully you watch the tree

find lizard and wren, and they both flee.

From far you hear a starling’s voice

So much spring and so much joice.

**

Bluebirds, finches, sparrows fly

argue, fight and then soar high.

They collect the very best

for their brood within the nest.

**

You walk and smile, sun on your skin

a soft wind in your hair and you lift your chin.

the hum, the songs, the twitter in your ear

and then you know: spring is here.

  1. Very lovely. You painted imagery with your words so nicely. Although you left out the part about the trees, grass, and flowers pollinating the place like crazy and driving people’s allergies into overdrive. Maybe next time. (just kidding)

    1. I’m glad I don’t live directly in a city and I have the chance to see and hear the birds.
It was great hearing from you. Thank you for dropping by, leaving your comment and for your compliment on the poem.
