Author Spotlight – Butterfly Thomas

Welcome!

Please introduce yourself.
Greetings: my name is Butterfly Thomas

1. When did you start writing?
I started writing in middle school.

2. What motivates you to write?
When I write poetry, the motivation is an intense emotion I needs must express. When I write fiction it’s kinda when the ideas strike me.

3. What genre do you write in and what made you chose this particular genre?
My novel is an urban thriller and I think the idea came to me back when that was my favorite genre. Now, I have an idea for an urban fantasy book and this genre is my new favorite genre.

4. What is your goal in writing? Do you have dreams where your writing should take you?
My goal for my writing is for all my writing, including my poetry, to be world renown. I want everyone to get something from my writing.

5. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block and if yes, how do you deal with it?
Yes, leave it alone and read or listen to music. Basically switch my focus until I can get past the block.

6. What advice would you like to give new, hopeful authors?
Just write. Someone unintentionally gave me that advice and it allowed me to write my first novel in 2 months; though I’d been nursing the idea for 10 years.

7. Please, tell us about your work.
This particular book is an urban thriller. It’s about a young girl who has many obstacles to overcome. While she is facing her demons, her brothers are battling their own. It’s a race to see who will come out the other side.

Thank you for being my guest. It was such a pleasure to have you here!!
Thank you for the opportunity

Butterfly’s Bio:

Guten Tag everybody:
My name is Butterfly Thomas. I was born in Germany, but I wasn’t
there long enough to learn the language. I attempted to take in in
school, but when I went to the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind
I had to take a foreign language they actually offered. I chose
Spanish, but of course I don’t remember much of that either. Anyway,
fast forward to now I am about to be 34 and this year signifies the
halfway point where I have been blind the same amount of years I have
been sighted.
My day job is a counselor and advocate for people with disabilities.

  2. I admire your spirit, Butterfly. Yes, by all means, write, keep writing, and keep on writing. I recently came across a Tweet which I thought was great for us writers. “If you have a story to tell, tell it.”

God bless you, your writing, and your goals.

Thanks for introducing us to Butterfly Thomas, Aurora.

    1. Thank you Sharon, yes I think all writers have a story to tell we just got to let it come out. i used to read interviews authors would say the characters took over and I didn’t know a book was going to go in a certain direction and I didn’t believe them. LOL however when I started writing my book I understood exactly what they meant it twisted and turned all over the place and I was surprised at some of the outcomes. Have you noticed this as a writer?
